Harris County grand jury indicts Quan Flowers in Kalie Goodwin case

A Harris County grand jury indicted Quan Flowers on an aggravated kidnapping charge in Kalie Goodwin’s disappearance, pushing a Baytown case that had already centered on a ransom allegation and a missing 29-year-old woman into a new legal phase. Goodwin vanished in April 2024 and has never been found. Baytown police now believe she is dead, but the indictment does not recover her or charge Flowers with murder.

The grand jury action came more than two years after Goodwin disappeared and nearly two years after Baytown police first filed aggravated kidnapping charges against Flowers on June 20, 2024. Earlier accounts of the case said Goodwin’s mother received a call on April 22, 2024 from two men demanding a $600 ransom and directing her to a Cash App account. That allegation became part of the kidnapping case that now sits before Harris County courts.

Flowers has also been tied to an unrelated Houston homicide. Reporting identified him as a suspect in the killing of Megan Rouse, and one account said he was arrested on May 31, 2024 and charged with murder in her death. Rouse was found dead 12 days after Goodwin disappeared, linking the two cases in the public record even as investigators have treated them as separate matters.

For Goodwin’s family, the indictment marks the clearest court action yet in a case that spent more than two years without a recovery or a final answer about her whereabouts. For Baytown and the broader Harris County area, it adds a grand jury finding to the earlier kidnapping allegations, but the central questions remain unresolved: where Kalie Goodwin is, what happened to her, and whether the aggravated kidnapping charge will lead investigators any closer to a body or additional charges.
