A Hispanic man in his 50s died before sunrise at Sablechase Drive and T.C. Jester Boulevard after a crash that turned an ordinary commute into a fatal scene in northwest Harris County. Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies said the wreck happened about 4 a.m. and involved a red Toyota and a white RAV4.
Investigators said the red Toyota was traveling northbound on T.C. Jester when the driver allegedly ran a red light and hit the RAV4. The driver of the RAV4 was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the red Toyota was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Deputies reported finding open containers inside the red vehicle, but the sheriff’s office said it was too early to conclude whether alcohol played a role. The investigation remained open as deputies worked to piece together the exact sequence of events and determine whether charges could be filed.
The victim lived in the neighborhood and was leaving for work, underscoring how quickly a routine trip can turn deadly on a local road. The crash took place at a neighborhood intersection in northwest Harris County, not on an interstate, on a stretch of roadway residents use every day to get to work, school and nearby businesses.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office continued to treat the case as both a major traffic crash and a possible impairment investigation. KHOU also identified the collision as a fatal two-vehicle wreck in northwest Harris County on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, reinforcing that the deadly impact unfolded in the first hours of the morning, when traffic is light but visibility and reaction time can still decide the outcome.
